GREOH STUDIOS BOOSTS CAPACITY BUILDING IN NOLLYWOOD

Victory Aduragbemi

The biggest cultural export from Africa is Nollywood. By 2025, the Nigerian film industry may become the biggest earner while crude oil trails behind. This is because filmmaking has become the real deal in today’s world. A lot of attention, details, research and budget go into it to bring out the best outcome and stand out in the industry.

Neo-Nollywood has gone further steps in creating pleasant films considering fantastic storylines, catchy titles to arouse the interests of viewers, beautiful aesthetics and designs that complement scenes, great actors that interpret roles effortlessly, and excellent cinematography, among many others. These have made more young and old people interested in filmmaking, skit-making, and content creation.

As the industry grows, expectations grow. Therefore, the need for capacity building, up-skilling and reskilling is essential. However, raw talent may not be sufficient to sustain the industry in the face of emerging technology.

It is strategic for renowned Nollywood film producers like Greoh Studios, owned by Jadesola Osiberu, a Nigerian writer, director and producer, to present the opportunity for intensive Film Production and Management training.

The training spanned between 1st May 2023 and 6th May 2023. It was an excellent opportunity for producers, line managers, production managers, assistant directors and aspiring filmmakers to learn hands-on practical production management.
