THE MOVIE: ELESIN OBA, THE KING’S HORSEMAN

An exclusive viewing party for ELESIN OBA, a film by the late Biyi Bandele and produced by EbonyLife Studios, was held on Friday, 28th of October, 2022.

Mo Abudu, the executive producer, was spotted alongside other notable attendees like Shaffy Bello, Kate Henshaw, Deyemi Okanlawon, Omawunmi Dada, Enioluwa, Seun Ajayi and others.

The movie premiered on Netflix on the 4th of November. It is an adaption of ‘Death and the King’s Horseman’, an acclaimed stage play by Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka.

The storyline is based on facts, history and events in the colonial era when the colonial authorities prevented a Yoruba King’s horseman from committing suicidal rituals.

Shaffy Bello, Odunlade Adekola, Jode Kosoko, Deyemi Okanlawon, Brymo Olawale and others starred in the movie.

Elesin Oba will be the second Yoruba Language Film to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
