The First Netflix original Nigerian series “Blood Sisters’’ is scheduled to be premiered on the 5th of May, 2022. The Netflix and Ebonylife produced series would be made available to all lovers of good film, globally and exclusively on Netflix from the 5th of May, 2022. The series which was directed by Biyi Bandele and Jenneth Gyang is star-studded with casts including; Inidima Okojie, Nancy Isime, Ramson Noah, Kate Henshaw, Uche Jumbo, Joke Silva, Wale Ojo, Gabriel Afolayan, Kehinde Bankole, Daniel Etim Effiong, Keppy Ekpenyong-Bassey, Maurice Sam, Ibrahim Suleiman, Toke Makinwa and Okey Uzoeshi and so many others.

Ebony life CEO, Mo Abudu, speaking about the series said, ’’ Blood Sisters is a crime thriller, which is a new genre for us, so the prospect was challenging but very exciting! It was also a particularly unique and intense experience as we shot during the pandemic, but we remained committed to the vision we share with Netflix – to tell authentic and exciting African stories with superb production values.”

The series tells the story of love, relationship, intra-family connection, and test of friendship. The series is a depiction of city life, portraying the different socioeconomic gaps in Africa’s most famous commercial and social metropolis.

The four-part crime thriller series follows the 2020 groundbreaking multi-title partnership between Netflix and EbonyLife media, making it the first African production company to have a multi-title deal with the streaming platform. Netflix and Ebonylife put out the thriller for the long-awaited Nigerian original series, and it has generated lots of reactions from the people.

The term ‘ First Nigerian Original series’ didn’t sit well with people on social media as people presumed that Kemi Adetiba’s king of boys was the first original series.

Mo Abudu however took to her Instagram page to confirm that blood sisters was indeed the first  Nigerian original series. She wrote,” Today, Netflix and EbonyLife Studios announce our pulsating limited series that will launch globally and exclusively on Netflix. This is officially Netflix’s First Nigerian Original Series as per the press release issued by Netflix today,”

Netflix’s Manager, Content for Africa, Ghettuba also confirmed this stance in an Instagram post. She shared: “From @moabudu and her outstanding team at @ebonylifestudios comes our first Nigerian Original series Blood Sisters. What is it about? Glad you asked. It is about two friends, a dark secret and an unforgiving family. It is crazy y’all. Yo!!”
