Wedding ceremonies are lot of fun, dancing and laugher, but being married is not always a piece of cake. There is a lot of work that goes into living “happily ever after”, either one has been married for years or just tied the knot. Marriage is a step that can make or mar the lives of individuals. So delicate with a wrong partner, and lifetime fun with the right half. Whatever melody the marriage plays, it is very important to ask , “what is the secret of happy marriage?’ and “what could be responsible for marriage collapse?’

Damilola Adegbite is a Nollywood veteran actress, a model and television personality. She got engaged to Chris Attoh in 2014, they had their son Brian before they get married  in 2015. And it was also known that in 2017, their marriage crashed. Both partners confirmed their marriage was over.

Probably out of curiosity, on Sunday, 27th February, 2022 Damilola had asked couples who are happily married to share the secrets to their blissful unions. The beautiful Nollywood actor shared this piece of information on her Instagram page,  “I don’t think we hear enough about happy marriages. Marriages that continue to pass the tests of time. All we hear about are the ones that didn’t work. Please if you have been happily married for at least 5 years and you see this message on your time line, please brag to me,” she pleaded

“Tell us what has kept you and your partner together this far. If you know any happily married couples (emphasis on HAPPILY), please tag them too. Tell us how you and your partner keep the flame burning. I met a couple who have been married for 9 years and it was as if I should join the union. They couldn’t keep their eyes and hands off each other! It was too sweet to watch! Please share your secrets!” she wrote.

The Secret to having a happy marriage is not easy to come by. Marriage is often about fighting the battle between your ears. Spouses in a successful marriage have learned to resist holding grudges and bringing up the past. One should always remember that he/she married an imperfect person and nevertheless a crisis doesn’t mean the marriage is over. Crises are like storms: loud, scary and dangerous. But to get through a storm you have to keep driving. A crisis can be a new beginning. It’s out of pain that great people and marriages are produced.
